To accurately output your files and keep you on the fast track, without incurring additional charges,

K&L has prepared a few guidelines to help you set up your files.

Images

Please keep in mind the following information.

1. Do not save images using any form of compression before placing them in your documents

2. Do not embed images in Pagemaker, and always supply the supporting file which have been placed in any doc.

3. Do not embed images in Illustrator or Freehand.

4. EPS files using paths created in Photoshop should be saved with a .8 pixel tolerance.

5. All intended for process printing must be saved in CMYK color space, NOT RGB or OTHER.

6. Images must be saved in TIFF, TIF, or EPS formats.

7. Resolution of images intended for offset printing must be at least 300 dpi for grayscale and color, and 800 dpi for line art.

8. Images intended for WEB presentation need only be 72 dpi.

9. If a image needs to be enlarged more than 120% to fit your layout, It should be rescanned.

10. Images saved as EPS from any program other than Photoshop must be accompanied by the original Document and all the fonts used in the original as well as the supporting images used in the original.

11. Remember to include all supporting fonts and graphics.

12. If you are using the low res component of a 5 file DCS for placement, You CAN NOT change the name of that file.

Fonts:

NOTE!

There are about a bazilion font foundries and foundry wanabees out there and some of them are really..... not very good! SO before you layout your whole job with some obscure font please check with us or another service provider to see if it really works.

1. Supply all fonts used in your document including those used in any EPS files placed in your document.

2. Type 1 or (T1) postscript fonts are TWO PART fonts, you must supply both parts, If you do not use a font management program, you will find the font parts in the system folder / fonts folder (on a Mac) On an IBM you need to supply Both the PFM and the PFB parts and they can usually be found in the PSFONTS folder in the system dir.

3. True Type or (TT) fonts will be acccepted. 1 Hardcopy must be supplied with files. Please mark on your copy, the size that you would like your files to be output at and the size that the copy WAS output at. Please remember to set the correct output size in your document before you save. 2 Hardcopy must clearly show all color breaks.
